Old is new again.

It’s hump day everyone-this is definitely something to be excited about!
For me, I’m looking at today and thinking how I can re-wear my old clothes, but still in a fashionable way! And of course I want to share this with you readers, too!

As I was cleaning out my closet a few weeks ago, I came across a few articles of clothing that I loved, but wasn’t sure how to wear them at the moment, but I still decided to keep them. Two of those were this blue skirt from Franchesca’s-circa 2010 and this cream pleated skirt from
Forever 2-circa 2010. Throughout the different outfits, you’ll see some of the same accessories and clothes paired with the skirts, because I’m showing you how to really wear your closet, something i’m trying to work on!Image

(Ignore my nasty big toe^)

Since I’m going to be showing you how to wear these old skirts new again, I figured it’d be best to make a casual outfit, a dressed up outfit, and a work outfit. Enjoy!

Blue Skirt: Casual #1
Why it works-first of all, tying a shirt up always makes things a lot more casual rather than tucking it in, and it’s always a fun touch. The polka dots go with the blue stripe because they’re both a shade of blue, and the grey Superga’s are the gray that the dot’s are, so they match. I added a fun pop of color for the necklace just to give the outfit some sparkle, because we all know I love some sparkle.

Blue Skirt: Casual #2
Why it works-this outfit is for the girls who want to be in a rodeo, or just pretend that they’re western. Either way works. This whole outfit works first of all because of the denim vest, it ties everything together. While most people won’t associate lace with western wear, this can definitely make the cut. Also, wearing the lace not tucked-in and letting it show adds a feminine touch to the outfit. The fringe necklace makes everything a little cowboy-up too, and the boots of course are a must.

Blue Skirt: Dressed up
Why it works-this dressy outfit works on so many levels because of the color scheme. I don’t care who you are, blue and cream/beige looks good on EVERY skin tone! It really is SO flattering! The cut of this shirt-which is kind of boxy and cropped is perfect with this skirt because it means you can make the skirt high waisted, which is so chic. The gold jewelry complements the shoes and the purse too without overpowering them.

Blue Skirt: For Work
Why it works-First of all, closed toe shoes for a work environment are a must. Unless you work in some kind of trendy retail or some place that you don’t have a desk, ALWAYS wear closed-toe shoes, it’s only appropriate. Also, a blazer isn’t always a must but if you’re going to wear sleeveless, like this shirt-you definitely have to. This blazer is a linen grayish-greenish boyfriend fit, making it super comfortable. And the sleeves are quarter length making it perfect for summer. You’re probably wondering about the peplum shirt underneath though, I’ll explain. This works because it’s a loose fit peplum, not tight like the popular ones right now. The fabric(a silk-like material) is also good under linen because it isn’t over powering. Adding the crystal collar necklace makes this outfit pretty too.

Now for the cream skirt! (I will most likely be wearing this a LOT lately!)

Cream Skirt: Casual
Why it works-this fun outfit works because not only is it flirty and fun, but the top’s cream goes perfectly with the skirt! As the first outfit was tied up, this one is too to make it more fun! I added the cream necklace with gold on it underneath the collar to match the gold on the shoes-so perfect!
Outfit details: Shirt{My boyfriend got it for me!} Necklace{Forever21} Shoes{same as before}

Cream Skirt: Dressed up
Why it works-now you might be thinking ummm, are those sneakers with a so called “dressy” outfit? And the answer is yes! I added these instead of heels because the top is SO dressy, it might be overkill. But of course heels are always acceptable for dressing up! This top works absolutely perfect with this skirt because of the length and cut-the length of this top is a tad longer than normal, so when not tucked in it hits the skirt right above the part where the skirt flares out a bit, making it a perfect combo. The cut is a tulip cut, meaning it’s like 2 half moons on each side, so it works great.
Outfit details: Top{J.Crew} Shoes{same as above}

Cream Skirt: Work
Why it works-this cream on cream ensemble works because it makes the blazer and the jewelry the centerpieces of the outfit. I paired the same cream top from the dressy blue skirt outfit with this skirt because they’re similar in color, making for a perfect combo, and this purse because it has colors that are in the jewelry as well.

________________________________________

You might have noticed that I didn’t include any links to buy these clothes, I did this for a reason! First of all, all of these clothes are at least a year old so they probably aren’t for purchase anymore. Secondly though, the bigger reason-is because I want you to use your clothes! These outfits weren’t put together to be exactly copied, but to serve as inspiration! Gather some pieces in your closet that are similar, and get creative with your own outfits!

That’s all for today ladies, I hope you gathered some inspiration with my skirt outfits! I’ll probably do a post similar to this next week, but with a dress!
Until next time!

Turquoise & black.

Happy Tuesday!
(Im starting to loose track of the days!)

Today my outfit was a black dress from Free People, a black lace shawl from Maude (Fayetteville,AR)-the one pictured however is from Savoir Fair(Fayetteville, AR)-I have it too! Simple sandals by Sam Edelman, my trusty Lucky bag and lots&lots of turquoise jewelry!

{Why it works}<-this is something new I’m going to add to my posts about fashion explaining why an outfit works so you know how you can duplicate it!

-This outfit works because first of all turquoise literally goes with everything, so of course black works also-and lace with turquoise is a basically a dream. The leather bag (I was also wearing leather shoes!) works because as long as your bag and shoes match, they don’t necessarily have to be colors that are in your outfit. For example-black and brown DO work together in this outfit because of the matching of the shoes and bag.

That’s all for tonight ladies!
One last thing-tomorrow’s post should be very exciting!!! I’ll be taking 2 different skirts and styling them 3 different ways, so look forward to that!

Flags on trend.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I hope everyone has spent this monday with their friends and family in honor of all the brave soldiers that serve for our country! I literally did nothing all day, so that was nice!

So since today I’m sure you saw a LOT of american flags, what more of a perfect time to talk about them as a trend!

I noticed this trend start up a few years ago at, of course-college. Girls were going to functions/parties and decorating their shorts with flags on them! Well, that trend has now gone viral and is literally everywhere. Back in the day, it was “uncool” to rock a flag since Old Navy came out with the original flag shirt, but times have changed ladies! It’s definitely ok to show your pride. From Pinterest, here are some of my fav flag looks:

And from Nasty Gal:

From Urban Outfitters:

From Free People:

And now the perfect way to rock an american flag-
Pair some circle sunnies(Urban Outfitters) with a tied up red/white handkerchief, a vintage American Flag shirt(etsy.com)-roll the sleeves up and tuck half of it in, some vintage cut-off levi’s (urban outfitters) and of course white converse. Add some red lipstick if you want to be extra spunky!

That’s all for today pretty ladies! Enjoy the rest of your memorial day, I’d love to see your flag outfits! Until tomorrow!

Fashion Photographer needed!

ATTENTION ALL:

Image

As I said in my previous post, I’m going to need a fashion photographer for the summer! I’m living in Mena for the summer, so someone that lives nearby would be preferable!

Basically I’ll need someone who:

-can shoot almost everyday (obviously I’m going to be super flexible!)
-is interested in fashion (ok, somewhat!)
-can ride around with me to scout out new locations
-will be in the Mena, AR area for the summer

This won’t be a specifically paid position, but I probably will be paying you somehow! I’m looking for someone who wants to gain experience with photographing and someone who is open to trying new things! I’ll basically need someone to take pictures of my outfit’s of the day and any other things that will relate to my blog. All the pictures they take will possibly be on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and of course my blog. Your name can be kept a secret to protect privacy, just whatever you want!

For information and more details, contact me at 479.216.3732! I’m not looking for a professional, just an outgoing fun-seeking individual willing to take pretty pictures! I’m excited to hear from you!

Blue&Denim

Happy Wednesday!

Sorry for being gone so long AGAIN, but I promise I’m back fro good!

I will try to do more of my outfit’s of the day, which means I will need a FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER!! (a post about that will follow this one…) But for now I had my lovely boyfriend take my #ootd pics!

And this is my interpretation:

{old The Rage dress, American Eagle vest, old Anthropologie bag, Chain Crochet circle necklace, pacsun fringe necklace, Sam Edelman boots, Catbird gold rings[knuckle and stacked rings] } Photographer: Ethan Campbell

Today’s outfit was inspired Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall 2013 looks, which were packed with denim!! While they paired their denim with black, I wanted to mix my look up and go with not-so-basic-blue! Here’s my inspiration:

That’s all for today’s #ootd! I hope you enjoy and are inspired! Until next time,

Its Gunna Be May…

Happy May First everyone!
(did you see what I did there-N’ Sync anyone?? ok, I’m done)

First of all, this girl is officially a working girl! (WHOOP-WHOOP!)

If you havn’t heard of Impressions, I definitely beg you to come in, look on facebook, or go to our website! My newest adventure is at this lovely little boutique, and not only do we have some of the cutest clothes, but literally anything you could want-Butter Nail Polish, Mothers Day gifts, Shoes, Purses, Jeans(AG, True Religion, need I say more?) oh and even stuff for your man! Seriously, this place is heaven of all things. Come see me today from 12:30-6!

In other news, I’ll be staying in Fayetteville this summer! WOOO-literally so excited about this.

Ok, I’m sure you’re all bored with my life stories so I’ll get to the story!

Since today is the very first day of May, I wanted to share some beautiful flowers with you! Lately, I’ve become almost obsessed with flowers, it’s actually kind of strange. I’m sure you remember my story on Flower Crowns a while ago, well let me tell you-I’ve definitely bought 2 more since that post! (oops…) Today however I just wanted to focus on extra pretty flowers, and what occasions they can be for!
For this story on flowers, I wanted to actually focus on my absolute FAV place to get them-which is Pigmint. This absolutely ADORABLE floral shop is located on 617 N College Ave in Fayetteville. It’s in the Airstream trailers! (how cute is that!?)

Well, every time I’ve been in the owners have been nothing but nice-and super spunky too! They literally can create things for any event/occasion, at basically any price point! (I got some extra pretty flowers for just $20 the other day!) So, I’m sure you all want to see the beauties I’m talking about, so allow me to share some of their amazing pics-
