It’s hump day everyone-this is definitely something to be excited about!
For me, I’m looking at today and thinking how I can re-wear my old clothes, but still in a fashionable way! And of course I want to share this with you readers, too!
As I was cleaning out my closet a few weeks ago, I came across a few articles of clothing that I loved, but wasn’t sure how to wear them at the moment, but I still decided to keep them. Two of those were this blue skirt from Franchesca’s-circa 2010 and this cream pleated skirt from
Forever 2-circa 2010. Throughout the different outfits, you’ll see some of the same accessories and clothes paired with the skirts, because I’m showing you how to really wear your closet, something i’m trying to work on!
(Ignore my nasty big toe^)
Since I’m going to be showing you how to wear these old skirts new again, I figured it’d be best to make a casual outfit, a dressed up outfit, and a work outfit. Enjoy!
Blue Skirt: Casual #1
Why it works-first of all, tying a shirt up always makes things a lot more casual rather than tucking it in, and it’s always a fun touch. The polka dots go with the blue stripe because they’re both a shade of blue, and the grey Superga’s are the gray that the dot’s are, so they match. I added a fun pop of color for the necklace just to give the outfit some sparkle, because we all know I love some sparkle.

Blue Skirt: Casual #2
Why it works-this outfit is for the girls who want to be in a rodeo, or just pretend that they’re western. Either way works. This whole outfit works first of all because of the denim vest, it ties everything together. While most people won’t associate lace with western wear, this can definitely make the cut. Also, wearing the lace not tucked-in and letting it show adds a feminine touch to the outfit. The fringe necklace makes everything a little cowboy-up too, and the boots of course are a must.

Blue Skirt: Dressed up
Why it works-this dressy outfit works on so many levels because of the color scheme. I don’t care who you are, blue and cream/beige looks good on EVERY skin tone! It really is SO flattering! The cut of this shirt-which is kind of boxy and cropped is perfect with this skirt because it means you can make the skirt high waisted, which is so chic. The gold jewelry complements the shoes and the purse too without overpowering them.

Blue Skirt: For Work
Why it works-First of all, closed toe shoes for a work environment are a must. Unless you work in some kind of trendy retail or some place that you don’t have a desk, ALWAYS wear closed-toe shoes, it’s only appropriate. Also, a blazer isn’t always a must but if you’re going to wear sleeveless, like this shirt-you definitely have to. This blazer is a linen grayish-greenish boyfriend fit, making it super comfortable. And the sleeves are quarter length making it perfect for summer. You’re probably wondering about the peplum shirt underneath though, I’ll explain. This works because it’s a loose fit peplum, not tight like the popular ones right now. The fabric(a silk-like material) is also good under linen because it isn’t over powering. Adding the crystal collar necklace makes this outfit pretty too.

Now for the cream skirt! (I will most likely be wearing this a LOT lately!)
Cream Skirt: Casual
Why it works-this fun outfit works because not only is it flirty and fun, but the top’s cream goes perfectly with the skirt! As the first outfit was tied up, this one is too to make it more fun! I added the cream necklace with gold on it underneath the collar to match the gold on the shoes-so perfect!

Cream Skirt: Dressed up
Why it works-now you might be thinking ummm, are those sneakers with a so called “dressy” outfit? And the answer is yes! I added these instead of heels because the top is SO dressy, it might be overkill. But of course heels are always acceptable for dressing up! This top works absolutely perfect with this skirt because of the length and cut-the length of this top is a tad longer than normal, so when not tucked in it hits the skirt right above the part where the skirt flares out a bit, making it a perfect combo. The cut is a tulip cut, meaning it’s like 2 half moons on each side, so it works great.

Cream Skirt: Work
Why it works-this cream on cream ensemble works because it makes the blazer and the jewelry the centerpieces of the outfit. I paired the same cream top from the dressy blue skirt outfit with this skirt because they’re similar in color, making for a perfect combo, and this purse because it has colors that are in the jewelry as well.

You might have noticed that I didn’t include any links to buy these clothes, I did this for a reason! First of all, all of these clothes are at least a year old so they probably aren’t for purchase anymore. Secondly though, the bigger reason-is because I want you to use your clothes! These outfits weren’t put together to be exactly copied, but to serve as inspiration! Gather some pieces in your closet that are similar, and get creative with your own outfits!
That’s all for today ladies, I hope you gathered some inspiration with my skirt outfits! I’ll probably do a post similar to this next week, but with a dress!
Until next time!
