An Update – The big 2-1

Over the next few weeks, I’m sure as you’ve noticed – I’m getting everyone updated on my summer in the city, in a series titled “An Update”. Today’s post will focus on one of the best days I’ve ever had filled with friends, laughter, glam, and glitz. Aka my birthday.

This year’s birthday was kind of big, I ~finally~ turned 21! Since I lived in the city with some good friends, of course we had to make a day of it! Ok, and actually I had been waiting for this day for a long time, so you better believe I was making it the longest day ever.

10am Manis at Paintbox nails
If you haven’t heard of this ultra-cool nail salon in Soho, then seriously check them out. The whole thing is an experience really – you get an incredible mani [they’re known for minimalistic nail art] along with the chance to take a picture of your nails in the mani cam. Can we just talk about how cool that is.

12pm Brunch at ABC Cocina
If you’re in the city or traveling, this is a spot I HIGHLY recommend. We got a cheese plate for the entire table, and I had the lemon rosemary pancakes. The rosemary mimosa was to. die. for.

3pm Wine Tasting at the Chelsea Wine Vault
We enjoyed an hour class on french wines, which were superb. This is a great place to just walk around and look at wines, but of course the staff is extremely knowledgeable, and can point you in any direction determined on your preferences.

5pm Blowouts at Drybar
This was such a fun experience, as none of us had ever actually got a blowout. If you’re not familiar with the term, it’s essentially just getting your hair done – but only the wash and styling. We each got a somewhat different style, which was fun to see in the end!

7pm Drinks at The Boom Boom Room
The most highly anticipated event of the day was drinks at The Standard [a popular meatpacking district hotel].
I have quite literally wanted to come here ever since discovering it a few years back, and today was the day.
The Boom Boom Room is a lounge at the top of The Standard, which gives incredible views of the city, along with amazing drinks. Oh, and you might run into the likes of Beyonce and JayZ, as they frequent this spot often.

Later that night we grabbed dinner in the meatpacking district, along with hitting the other bar at The Standard – Le Bain, which also has incredible city views plus crepes on the rooftop. Too cool for school, right?
To top everything off, the next morning we went to a puppy store [mixed feelings about that…] but I got to play with FRENCH BULLDOG PUPPIES. Ok, sorry for the yelling but I was actually in heaven – those who know me, know that I have an [unhealthy] obsession with french bulldogs. Really, it just capped off everything.

Screen Shot 2015-09-14 at 12.27.53 PM

Overall it really was such a fabulous birthday – definitely one for the books. Sending lots of love to everyone that helped make it so special – my fab friends and awesome parents, I see you!

About this weekend// Part Two.

For the continuation of my weekend, I’ll start with Saturday, which was ahhh-mazig. Be warned-it’s a little lengthy, but worth reading every word I swear!

It was an early wake up call, with Fun Fearless Life starting at 8:30, Mom and I had to catch an Uber by 8, after getting a Chai Tea Latte of course. When we arrived at the venue, first of all I was dying inside because Lincoln Center is where fashion week is held, so you could say it was surreal. When we walked in, we were greeted by possibly the coolest technology ever. At an Ipad, you were to enter your Facebook, Twitter, Email, or other social media information as to connect to a system. This system then took all your sharing info and somehow transferred this onto a small bracelet that you could tap on a circle device to share a picture you took at one of the stations. Make sense? After figuring this cool thing out, I decided to go upstairs to the area where all kinds of fun things were happening, and get my pic done so I could share it on this new technology!

Maybelline was one of the sponsors for Fun Fearless Life, so they had a makeup station set up where you could get your makeup done, touched up, or just gain some knowledge about their new products! After looking around at this station, I decided to go to the Express station, which was another sponsor. At this station, we got a coupon to obtain a small tech clutch-let me translate-this tech clutch has a phone charger attached on the inside so you can party as long as you can handle, and still have a phone that works, too cool right? Express also had their new holiday collection out for us to take in, which was so pretty I must add. After this station, I headed over to the Cosmo booth, which was selling books from all the speakers and Cosmo merchandise. Clearly I had to buy a Fearless tank, for obvious reasons.

IMG_5764-2

Pause for a minute – the event hadn’t even really started at this point.

We stared to hear the ‘ding’ of the call for us to get to our seats, so on the way we passed the Spanx booth, where I got a coupon for a free pair of Spanx tights, and got a flash tat. BOOM, what a way to start the morning.

When we finally got to our seats, T-swizzle’s ‘Welcome to New York’ started blasting and scantily clad male models started making their way down the isles.

IMG_5683

Dying inside, I know.

Joanna Coles, Cosmo’s Editor-in-Chief came onto stage and asked us if we were ready for a “F*ing Fun Fearless Weekend”, to which we replied YEESSSS. She talked a little about how great the weekend was to be (little did I know this was an understatement), and then began introducing the first speaker, Sarah Blakely-the founder of Spanx. Sarah came on stage, of course with her Spanx underneath her dress. She talked about how she started, which you can read about here. She was literally so inspiring, to hear how no one thought her idea was profitable, yet she still pursued it, and now is the owner of a multi-million dollar company, which still aims to empower woman and make them feel like they can do anything! I have to admit, I definitely went to Dillard’s last night and bought my very first pair of Spanx, in the leather legging variety. After Sarah were three women who worked their way to the top, Sallie Krawcheck, Julie Greenwald, and Megyn Kelly. All are influencers in their field and had similarities with fighting for a job and competing with men. This panel was so interesting to me because they all agreed on one thing-if you’re pursuing a career in a man’s world, don’t think of it as a negative thing. Use what you’ve got going for you-you’re a woman so you look different than the men, and also just work 10 times harder!

The next speaker was one of my favorites (I bought her book afterwards!), Dr. Meg Jay, a clinical psychologist, speaker, and author of The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Mater and How to Make the Most of Them Now. Her goal was to make us realize that your twenties are the prime time to make the most of our lives and be the change we want to see. She also talked about how to make connections, how to utilize those connections, and how you must own ambition. Her words were so powerful to me, since I’ve wanted to move to New York and pursue a career in fashion ever since I can remember, and listening to her really made me feel so empowered-like the world really was my oyster!

We had a lunch break after these wonderful women and got a glimpse at what backstage was looking like, and got a few makeup tips from the Maybelline makeup artist. After returning from the break, first up was Amy Cuddy-another one of my absolute favorites. Her TED talk has been viewed by more than 20 million people (I highly suggest you watch it, SO worth it), she’s a Harvard Grad, and has been recognized by The New York Times, Time magazine, and Wired. Her message was all about body language, which we think about a little, but not as much as we should. Think about it-when you are about to be in a stressful situation, unless you don’t get nervous in these kind of situations, chances are you curl up into a little ball. I’m guilty as charged! She talked to us about power posing and how it can really affect your body’s hormones and the way you feel, and how much confidence it can give you. Her wise words of advise that I strongly am taking to heart are not Fake it until you make it, but rather Fake it until you BECOME it. Such powerful words were never spoke before!

Next up was Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, and YouTube Personality Grace Helbig, who is hilarious I might add. They talked about the power of social media, how it’s changed their life’s, and put it in perspective of how branding can really be so impactful.

Next up to the plate was a group of women who created their own careers and did what no one else thought they could! Sophia Amoruso, Founder and CEO of Nasty Gal; Windsor Hanger, Cofounder and President of Her Campus Media; and Christina Tosi, Chef, Owner and Founder of Milk Bar were up next. It was inspiring to hear this group of women tell their stories of how they made their own opportunities, struggled along the way yet still became the cream of the crop. Something I got out of their panel was if you want to start a brand or store, create desire-and the success will come. After this we got another break, where I went up to meet Sophia and get my #GIRLBOSS book signed (I’m halfway through and highly suggest this read!!). After waiting in line for what seemed like FOREVEERRR, because it was – I actually missed part of the next panel – oops – but I met Sophia! When I did, I first noticed her hair change – so cute, and told/showed her my extensions, which at the time seemed so normal but in retrospect, what was that about!?!? Oh well, she still signed my book with “Flancake is a #Girlboss”, and then we took a selfie so all was well in the world again.

 IMG_5699IMG_5698

In between all this madness, I somehow saw Aya (Cosmo Fashion Director) again and said hi! This time I asked some career goal questions, along with if I could interview her (EEEP), so be on the lookout for that!! When I got back from the book signing, I was entertained by Chrissy Teigen, who I must say I was ultra envious of her mile long legs, who chatted with Logan Hill, a writer who has written for Cosmo and currently writes an Ask Logan column in Cosmo, Matthew Hussey, Mega babe extraordinaire. Wait did I just say that? I meant New York Times best-selling author-must’ve been a type ;), and Jordan Carlos, who’s graced Girl Code many a time with his hilariousness. I caught the tail end of this convo, but what I got was SO funny, to hear what guys thought of women’s tactics.

 IMG_5738

The next group of women were presented by Maybelline, a group who has definitely climbed to the top in each industry-fashion, makeup, and entertainment. Alicia Quarels, E! News correspondent, Anne Marie Nelson-Bogle, Vice President of Maybelline New York, and Shay Mitchell, who is Emily Fields on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. This group was so impressive, I could barley stand it. I loved hearing how each woman had different people tell them it wasn’t possible to achieve what they wanted, particularly Shay Mitchell. Her dream was to become an actress, so she would pretend she was one while waiting tables. It was also interesting to hear how Alicia and Anne Marie had to struggle with obstacles as women of color, and how they persevered and became some of the most influential woman in the industry.

The last lady of the hour was Tara Mohr, who took us on a journey of thinking about where we wanted to be in 20 years, which was rather exciting. She talked to us about finding our voice, finding our mission in life, and also finding our message for life. We ended the event that day with a fashion show put on by Express, showing their new holiday/party collection, which I am currently shopping/writing at the same time for.

Later that night, we went to a VIP cocktail party that was quit eventful, but I’ll save that for next time!

About this weekend// Part One

This weekend I’m was back in my (adopted) stomping grounds, and could’t have been more excited!! Over the last few days, I had the I N C R E D I B L E opportunity to attend Cosmopolitan magazine’s inaugural Fun Fearless Life weekend event! Which let me tell you-was one of the best things I’ve done for myself in, uh, forever. So since it’s a lot to take in, I’ll go slow and start with Friday.

So first off, I’ll explain to you what Cosmo’s Fun Fearless Life is all about, and why you should totally go next year (should I be advertising for them, or what?). As you probably know, Cosmo magazine is, in a nutshell, all about women empowering women, and having fun doing it. In a bigger and better way of explaining it, this event is Cosmo’s way of sharing their knowledge of other women’s acheivments and the great things they’ve come to know, and they are SO wonderful to share this knowledge with others. The event also isn’t centered around one subject-it’s got fashion figures, business women, models, TV personalities, and basically every other kind of woman you can think about it that is successful. Chrissy Teigen, Kelly Osbourne, Sarah Blakely (founder of Spanx), Shay Mitchell, Sophia Amoruso (founder/CEO of Nasty Gal), Jordan Carlos (from GirlCode), Dick Costolo (CEO of Twitter), Aya Kanai (Fashion Director at Cosmo), and Jillian Michaels to name just a few. So get what I’m saying, it’s the coolest thing ever right? The answer is abso-f*ing-lutely (said with true Cosmo sass).

Back to Friday. I woke up in high hopes of what the day was set to bring, but I honestly couldn’t have prepared myself for what was to come. I was to have lunch with Donna Lagani, SVP/Publishing Director, and Jenifer Geller, Executive Beauty Director, which as you can imagine was literally a dream. I was able to gain advice on how to further my career in fashion, how to connect and network with other gals that are like me and aspiring to do similar things in the industry, I was able to share my opinions on certain aspects of the magazine that I love (and they took me seriously so that of course was invigorating), and I had a fabulous lunch with two absolutely inspiring, inimitable, and empowering women that I was SO lucky to meet.

IMG_5668.JPG

After lunch we walked to the Hearst tower and started up the giant possibly-could-be-intimating-but-they-weren’t, stairs. And then took the elevator to the 30th floor of course. Very Devil Wears Prada moment, no doubt. At the arrival of the 30th, I was greeted by glass doors with the COSMOPOLITAN across it, and I knew I had arrived to my future home. Donna and Jen were so warm and friendly in showing my Mom and I around the Cosmo offices. I was able to see a sneak peak of next months issue!! But I pinky swore I would’t give any secrets out, so my lips are sealed. I also saw the beauty room, where I wanted to try ALL THE PRODUCTS! I saw the cubicles the gals worked in which were equally as decorated and fashionable as the girls themselves, I got to see Donna’s office-overlooking Central Park might I add, I saw Joanna Coles, Editor in Chief of Cosmo if you didn’t know, which included a desk with an attached treadmill. Clever, right? I saw the sex columnist’s desk which was complete with Cosmo condoms and, eh-hem, adult toys, I walked by Aya in a meeting and tried my hardest not to barge in and say “Hi can I have your job?”. But the best of all was, drumroll please…the fashion closet. How did you know? If you’ve ever dreamed of a closet stocked with the latest and greatest, then chances are you were having deju-vu of the Cosmo closet. The men of Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik were in attendance, along with the lovely ladies of Chanel. All looked fabulous sitting on the shelves and hanging on the racks, and most all were marked with where they were to be born at, who was to where them, and more importantly what shoot they would be in. After the fashion closet, we had to part ways, but not after thanking Donna and Jen for the absolutely incredible out-of-body-experiance of an afternoon. After that, the afternoon was a blur because it was the best day, basically ever.

IMG_5670-0.JPG

After an afternoon at Cosmo, we geared up to attend an event with Express, hosted by Cosmo of course. The event was at the new store in Times Square, so of course it was a mad house. When I walked in I was greeted with fab clothes and even fabber (just made that word up, no shame) food and company. While mingling with Cosmo editors, we were able to taste tiny horderves, get flash tattoos, have a fashion drawing done of yourself, and of course meet all the amazing women around you! I was able to meet Joanna Coles (Editor in Chief of Cosmo), Aya Kanai (Cosmo’s Fashion Editor, who has previously been at Teen Vogue, Nylon magazine, and Shopbop.com), and so many more that were all so kind! After a few hours in my heels, my feet had bit the dust so it was time to call it a night. Almost.

IMG_5678.JPG

IMG_5688.JPG

After leaving Express, mom and I went back to the hotel for a change of clothes and headed to grab dinner at an Irish pub. Mind you, we didn’t know what we were walking into – Friday night Karoke. An older man in a suit, a lawyer, was celebrating his 10th year singing every Friday at the bar so naturally we sat back and listened to him. He was something, no doubt. And I did get up and bust a tune if you were wondering, Rappers Delight-only the greatest karaoke song ever.

After Friday night karaoke, we really did decide to call it a night.

And that’s just Part One.

I’m back from Blogshop, and let me tell you-it’s a life changer! [ok, maybe mostly a blog-changer].
I learned SO many wonderful tips and tricks of photoshop and blogging in general!
Upon going to this class, I knew slim to nothing about photoshop. I knew how to open up a picture-maybe add some weird things to it, nothing fancy-and that was about it.
Now I know way more than I ever thought possible, and I know how to create exactly what I want!
I’ll be posting more pretty pictures, pretty things-more pretty everything!

Bare with me while I try and devote more time into making my blog bigger and better!

It’s borrowed from the boys for weekend wear, while also supporting those Hogs-Woo Pig.
For this weekend’s wear, I was inspired by one of my all time favorite bloggers-Laura Wiertzema, of Ascot Friday and her love of plaid shirts.
[Literally almost all of her amazing outfits are with plaid-up the cool girl factor]

I wanted to wear mine tied around my waist and over my shirt, but I wanted it super loose-so I borrowed from the boy. It turned out to be such an easy/effortless look.

Garden Party

It’s Wednesday everyone-Happy Hump Day!!

This Hump day, I’d like to share a little NWA Secret(ok, it’s actually not a secret!) that I’ve recently discovered!
If you haven’t been to the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, you MUST go!
A few weeks ago before I sent my lovely boyfriend off riding his motorcycle to Cali, we took a visit to these wonderful gardens! I wanted to share my pictures, and of course what I wore!
First though, I took a visit to the Fayetteville Farmers Market and got some sunflowers and fresh from the garden carrots! (They just celebrated their 40th anniversary, how cool is that!)

My outfit of the day was a blue romper and watercolor overlay both from Savoir Faire, Chain Crochet jewelry, Steve Madden silver wrap sandals and Raybans of course!

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

and since I’m in the mood for some lovely flowers, I thought I’d share some of my favorites!Image

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

That’s it for today! I’m so excited about tomorrows post-I’ll be sharing my newly redecorated room, YAY! Have a great rest of your day!

The Big Surprise!

It’s Tuesday ya’ll!!!

So, as promised…I’m revealing the big surprise that I mentioned a few posts back!
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday(in case you didn’t know!) my grandmother’s shop, Crosseyed Cricket will be carrying my refurbished distressed furniture and home goods! I’ve painted and distressed every piece by hand, and it’s taken a LOT of hours-every piece is different! I LOVE the color’s I’ve used so far, they really will make a room pop!
I wanted to put my things in my grandmother’s store because A) They really can add so much color to one room! And B) All of my items, besides the bigger furniture, make the perfect gifts!! There are a TON of different colored chalkboard frames to choose from, so take your pic! Also, all of my things are VERY reasonably priced! None of the smaller items are over $40 and the furniture won’t be over $100 (of course unless it’s a very refurbished, very old piece that took a long time to finish!)

I wanted to show you some pictures of what I’m talking about because I think you’ll love it! I know I do!
First of all though, here are the Fourth of July windows that I did!
I wanted to give off a feel of flags flying in the wind, so I decided to hang them for a cool effect! I also wanted to incorporate some of the things I had made with the things that are already in the store. I made sure to have one red, white, and blue bigger object in both windows, but keeping them somewhat different. I also used small antique cannons that were laying around the store to really give off the July 4th vibe-enjoy!

ImageImage

This turquoise piece is SO gorgeous, so sorry for the terrible picture quality-but it really is so pretty in person! This end table is also ONLY $60!! SUCH a steal! It’s a little hard to see, but the little distressed green vase is also available-so cute! Come see them tomorrow in the store
from 10:30-5!

Image

Here are some other options available-a turquoise bamboo mirror that hangs on a wall diagonally, a really cool yellow mirror with sconce that hangs, a small turquoise candle holder, and really awesome orange leaf sconces (perfect for fall)!Image

Here is a yellow distressed chalk frame with really awesome blue water color shining through the distress, and a really cute turquoise candle holder that can double as a ring holder!

Image

Sorry these are upside down, but these turquoise antique sconces are SO adorable!! I wish I could put them in my room but I’m repainting it soon…turquoise haha oops!

Image

Here’s a great mint distressed with yellow underneath magazine holder! SO cute!Image

Here’s another candle holder that you can use to display jewelry on and an adorable smaller chalk board frame that is hangable!

Image

And another larger chalkboard frame! This orange one is SO cute-and it hangs too!

Image

Another mint large chalkboard frame-this would make the perfect gift!Image

Here’s a FAB green broke tray that would look perfect on a coffee table! Image

This is probably my favorite turquoise chalkboard frame, it’s HUGE-it will be going outside the store for now! But it won’t be there for long!

Image

Sorry for another terrible quality, but these green sconces are SO cute!Image

Last but not least here is a perfect gift item-a small square chalkboard frame-that’s only $8!Image

There are a few things in the windows that are of course for sale and a TON more things coming to the store soon that I’m working on right now!
There wil be a few more furniture pieces coming, and a lot more smaller gift items!
And in case you were curious, I also can do custom work-for frames, furniture, just whatever!! (mail boxes I think would look SO cute distressed!)

___________

Well that’s my surprise lovely ladies! I hope your as excited as I am about this new adventure!
Don’t worry though-I’m still making shorts, I’m working on July 4th ones right now!
Come in tomorrow through Saturday to check out the new things-I bet you’ll love them!

Until next time loves!
Have a great night!

(Oh and wish my mom a happy birthday! She’s 29 😉

Mermaid hair.

Goodday everyone!

I’m sure we’ve all secretly wanted to be a mystical creature at some point in our lives.
Well, I’ve always wanted to be a mermaid.

Not only was I obsessed with Ariel as a little tot, I literally would pretend to be here.

Today’s post isn’t a revolution or a style snoop, I just wanted to share some pretty pictures of mermaids and mermaid hair.

For the record- I would totally get mermaid hair if it was sociably acceptable.

Saturday Shenanigans: Recent happenings…

Happy Saturday everyone!!

Since I’m still playing catch-up, and Saturdays are supposed to be FUN!!- I thought I’d catch everyone up on what I’ve been up to, since I’ve been MIA for a while now! I’ll get back on track after today’s post I pinky swear!

So as everyone knows-last week was valentines day! HOW cute am I…totally kidding. But my roomie and I decorated cookies for Valentines Day at her moms house and they turned out SO cute! Below is only one of my cookies, there were so many and I actually forgot to take a pic of them all…sad face, I know! But I thought I’d at least share one!

Image

Something that I’ve been oh-so-excited about recently is Prabal Gurung’s line for Target! It came out a few weeks ago and I am just IN LOVE!! I already knew I loved this designer-his floral designs and bright colors have always been intriguing, but a line with target? SWOON! I wanted to literally buy everything, but as we all know I couldn’t, but I did want to share one of my favorite pieces! Below is the peplum top he designed for Target, which would be perfectly paired with a black body-con skirt for spring, some neon yellow sandals and some pretty clear/sparkly jewelry!

Image

We all know I can barley make a post without including this little handsome devil, but I really couldn’t resist posting this pic! We had a fun day at Target one Saturday afternoon and I got this really cool tool for my phone-its called an Olo clip, and it makes fisheye, widescreen and super zoomed pis! (I had a pos about this fun gadget actually a while back!) But I just love this picture-it’s so dashing….sigh.

Image

Another fun thing happening recently is the decorating of my Mama D’s new store in Mena! She’s opening up a cute little antique shop which will see antiques (duh) and my FAV candles-Seda France!! AND much more fun goodies. I went home this past weekend to visit her and the fam and to also set up the window displays! I went for a theme with HATs if you couldn’t tell! And I thought it turned out quite nicely! Take a look and see for yourselves! (I’m not done yet btw, still have to ad more fun stuff!) And in case you’re curious, she’s set to open in probably a month or two!

ImageImageImage

In other news, I’ve always been a fan of cat eyes. I actually ALWAYS used to wear them and recently Ive started doing them again-this time with a new tool! Previously, I used Maybelline’s pot which always was pretty good to me (with a steady hand anyways!) but my brush started to get frayed, so I went searching for a new magic wand. I couldn’t find one, but I did stumble upon Maybellines Magic Marker! (I forget what it’s called so I call it that!) It’s basically liquid eyeliner in the form of a marker. It’s seriously SOO easy to use and so fast! The pic below isn’t that great and you can hardly see my cat eye, but I wanted to give a visual somehow! I’ll be doing a tutorial on the cateye sometime soon btw….stay tuned! Image

Another thing I did last weekend was visit my Norwegian friends! Long story short-my dad’s family had an exchange student when he was younger and over the years, they’ve kept in touch and we’ve all just become great friends, we’ve visited them in Norway and they visit us about every 4 years! But anyways, here’s all the grandkids and Thea and Christian!

ImageImage

Something I also did this past week was get my hair done-WOOOO IM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS! So I obviously got a little blonder (well, kind of a lot! 🙂 ) and I also got..(drumroll please…) So.Cap extensions!! I am seriously SO in love with them-I already said this in a post a few days earlier, but Kelly from Studio * in Fayetteville did them-they’re literally perfect. They’re maybe a few inches longer than my hair (I only really wanted them to make my hair thicker, but the length wasn’t so shabby either!) I thought I’d post a pic of my curls today since I thought they looked so fab-enjoy!

ImageImage

And last but not least, I got my nails done! WOO! That’s seriously always fun, especially when they were a result from a snow day=NO CLASS HOLLAA! I got a simple mani-nude base with a white half moon! I’ve been wanting this for a while and I finally got in done in gel-it’s so lovely, I definitely recommend it!

Image

That’s basically it for now! Have a FABULOUS rest of the weekend….MWAH!

Saturday Shenanigans! Eventful Crafternoon.

Hi-Hi pretty girls!

This Saturday was actually extremely boring, except I did whip out some really awesome crafts! Well, more like DIY make-things-look-better. I up-cycled a necklace I’ve had and created some rad garland for my dorm!

1. Necklace-we’ve all seen the colored gem necklace trend, and I’ve always thought it was SO cute, but I haven’t yet found a necklace that I just LOVE the color scheme, because I love pastels-and all the one’s I’ve seen are neon! (EEK!) So I decided to create my own! I started with a white necklace from Altar’d State, and grabbed some of my favorite nail polish! (Although my necklace was white, any color could work! If you do want to make a neon piece, I suggest painting the necklace white first if it isn’t, so that the colors will be brighter!). Then I simply painted the nail polish onto the jewel were I thought it would look good, put on a top coat-and I was done! Simple and stylish. (if you can’t tell I’m really into layering necklaces! It’s just such a fun way to wear all your favs at once!)

ImageImageImageImage

2. Tissue paper garland! I’ve seen this garland ALL over pinterest and in a few of my fav shops, so I wanted to bring this fun thing into my dorm! I’ve seen a few different tutorials, but this is my fav so far. I got the tissue paper at Target and the garland (I THINK!) at walmart! I did pastels, but this would look awesome with bright colors and some glitter tissue paper! Here’s the results:

ImageImage

Thats it for today! If you make a cute necklace or garland-send me pics! I’d love to see them!
